What I Read In 2017

What I Read In 2017

Due to the fact that I graduated college [in the UK] in 2017, I suddenly found myself in a sort of limbo where I had so much time and nothing to do. Therefore, I made it my mission to turn back to reading and pick up the habit again as, for the past two years, my head has been buried in completely my college work to the highest standard possible. Now, without having to meet any project deadlines or write any further 30,000 word essays in regard to analysing Norman Bates [my lecturers truly hated me], I figured there was no better time than to start reading again and give myself a break from my own reality.

Therefore, 2017 was definitely the year in which my reading habit rather made it’s reappearance in my later teen years and, honestly, it definitely made my year a lot better than it would’ve been because taking up reading allowed me to cope with more intense mental health issues that I was experiencing and still do experience [but more on that another time].

What’s important is that I was able to turn back to reading as a safety net and, over the last 5 months of 2017, I was definitely able to accumulate quite a ‘Read In 2017’ list. Of course, this list is definitely not as extensive as it could’ve been, I’m fully aware of that and I’m not claiming for it to be any better than the next person’s ‘Read In 2017’ list. I hope to be able to laugh back at this in a few years at the sheer lack of book titles, but, for somebody who focused on getting back into reading as a coping and escapism mechanism, I’m pretty happy with it for now.
